Managing Volunteers

Our movements run on people power. Often, volunteers are the source of that power. 

Managing volunteers can be tricky, but it's important to do well, especially if your work counts on volunteer time, energy, and talent to drive results.

Join us for a fast-paced online course for anyone who manages volunteers (even if you're a volunteer yourself!).

We'll help you identify, onboard, train, and support volunteers effectively. We'll share tried-and-true strategies for volunteer management, even when you don't have a lot of time or resources. 

Whether you work with a nonprofit, campaign, library, or school, you'll get a complete resources guide, a chance to practice, and actionable next steps.

You'll leave equipped to effectively manage volunteers in social justice, campaigns, direct service, and educational equity organizations. 

We'll cover:

• Scoping a volunteer role, whether it's a single task or a long-term leadership position.
• Getting the right volunteers in the door. 
• Training volunteers and giving clear assignments.
• Giving feedback and holding volunteers accountable.
• Appreciating volunteers and keeping them engaged. 

This is a 3-hour session via Zoom. 

Check your time zone! Our trainings are listed in Eastern Time, so double check that the time works for you. 

Cost:

$250 per person for organizations with budgets over $10 million

$210 per person for organizations with budgets between $2 million and $10 million

$155 per person for organizations with budgets below $2 million

$150 per person for individuals attending without organizational assistance

There is no prerequisite to attend this training, but if you have one of our Foundations trainings (Working for Change or Managing to Change the World) under your belt, even better! You'll pick up some new tools and advice while practicing some key concepts from that training and applying them to volunteers.

This training will include live transcription.
