Eva Hernandez has worked in the environmental movement for two decades, as an organizer, campaigner, strategist, and leader at Sierra Club, Moveon, Dogwood Alliance and GreenCorps. Most recently, Eva serves as the Managing Director of the Sierra Club where she leads organizational development and design, building teams to develop successful community, state and national campaigns to protect people and the planet as part of Executive leadership. Before becoming Managing Director in 2021, Eva served as the National Program Director, where she led the work to increase effectiveness across all campaigns while defining equity and justice frameworks to maximize the effectiveness of the organization and partnerships across the movement.

Eva has always worked to create a more sustainable, powerful, and diverse environmental and social justice movement and has served on the boards of several environmental and social change organizations, including Building Equity & Alignment Initiative, GoAustin/Vamos Austin (GAVA), Friends of the Earth, Undoing Racism Austin and Environment Texas. She believes in the power of people and communities, and the power of strong management as a central strategy for culture change as she strives to put her core values of justice and integrity into practice every day. To recharge, Eva reconnects with nature in the Texas Hill Country or in swimming holes near Austin, TX, where she’s based.
